PACIFIC
ENVIRONMENTAL
GROUP, INC.
A®C01VMANY
March 2, 1999
Project 911-011.1A
Mr. Mike Infurna
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
304 East Weber Avenue
Stockton, California 95202
Re: Work Plan Addendum
Tosco (Former Unocal) Service Station#4409
1502 North El Dorado
Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Infurna-
On behalf of Tosco Marketing Company(Tosco), IT Corporation (IT, formerly Pacific
Environmental Group Inc.), will be performing environmental services associated with
underground storage tank (UST)removal activities at the above referenced site. This report is
intended to give a brief summary of UST removal activities as well as provide additional
information requested. A Work Plan for Underground Storage Tank Removal, dated February
24, 1999,was submitted to SJCEHD, which presented the proposed scope of work to be
completed.
The site is a former Unocal service station that retailed gasoline fuel. The site currently contains
three 10,000-gallon capacity gasoline USTs and associated product lines and dispensers. Vadose
zone wells are located in each corner of the UST excavation. The three USTs and associated
product lines are scheduled to be removed by a Tosco approved contractor. It is anticipated that
the four vadose zone wells will also be removed at this time. Upon removal, each tank and
associated product lines will be hauled by an approved hauler for disposal or recycling. If
hydrocarbon impacted soils are encountered, limited over-excavation may be performed.
Over-excavation limits(if performed)will be determined by the extent of hydrocarbon impacted
soil, emergency conditions, proximity to structures or property boundaries and/or the physical
limits of excavation equipment. Possible areas of over-excavation and stockpile placement are
shown on Figure 1. Discrete confirmation samples will be collected from over-excavation as
directed by SJCDEH. Sampling and laboratory procedures are included in the Work Plan for
Underground Storage Tank Removal, dated February 24, 1999. Stockpiled soil removal is
expected to be completed within 10 to 30 business days.
11315 Sunrise Gold Circle,Suite M • Rancho Cordova,California 95742-6534 (916) 858-2350 FAX (916) 858-2355
