1
Split-spoon sampler and wireline operated continuous coring
' equipment to enable obtaining soil samples as required.
4. Soil samples will be collected at 5 foot intervals from 20'
'
to 65' , or when groundwater is encountered. Soil samples will be
taken under the direction of the RG on location, using properly
cleaned metal tubes. Additional soil samples may be obtained if
the geologist feels it is necessary to do so.
' 5. Soil samples will be briefly described, and promptly sealed
and preserved on ice pending tranfer to a State Certified
' laboratory for analysis. At the completion of operations, or
sooner if deemed necessary, the preserved soil samples will be
delivered tinder proper chain of custody to FOL laboratory with
instructions to test for HTEX & TPH-G, (EPA Method 8020, ) using
' detection limits as specified by the San Joaquin Co. EHD.
6. Removed spoil from the auger flights and unpreserved core
' tubes will be stored in properly marked and sealed drums and
stored on site pending the results of the laboratory analysis.
Any fluids producing during steam cleaning or completion opera-
tions will also be stored on site in properly marked drums for
later disposal .
7. Each boring will be advanced a minimum of 10 feet below the
' water table, which is estimated to be at around 65 'bgl . After
removal of auger flights, 2" OD screw-type, interior flush blank
& slotted FVC will be installed, and gravel packed as shown on
' the schematic- Plate IX. The top of the perforations will extend
approximately 5 feet above the water table, with 14 feet below.
The hole will be gravel packed with #3 gravel , (Lonestar or
' equivalent ,) capped with a minimum of 3' of bentonite powder or
pellets, and cemented to the surface using a flexible hose or
tremie pipe. Monitoring wells NMW-1 & HMW--2 will be equipped
with a suitable surface vault ("Christy box , ") thoroughly
' cemented in; and a locking traffic cover. The PVC will extend
sufficiently above the bottom of the box to allow installation of
an expandable cap with lock. Monitoring well HMW-1 , located in
' the open field, will be protected with an e" diameter well
monument and cover extending approximately 16-24" above the
ground. The north side of each casing top will be notched for
' use as a survey and reference point. All three wells will be
properly labeled for identification.
8. Within i8-24 hours, each well will be developed by swabbing
with a hard rubber disc or suitable equipment for at least 15
minutes, as directed by a representative of the County EHD.
Fluids removed during swabbing operations will be placed in
' 4
