DEPTH TO GROUNDWATER:
Based upon San Joaquin County Flood Control District maps, ground
water was at approximately 40 ' bgl when measured in the spring of
1986. The spring 1993 map issued by the same agency indicates
that groundwater is about 75' bgl; this agrees quite closely with
the water level measured during the most recent work in January
of this year.
BRIEF CHRONOLOGY OF EVENTS SINCE INITIATION OF PROJECT:
JJuly 12. 1989 - 1 ,000 gal UST removed by Jim Thorpe Oil, Inc ,
(JTO. ) A strong gasoline odor and discolored soil was noted at
the west end of the excavation, in the vicinity of the pump
island. Spoil returned to hole & covered with plastic.
January 19 thr 22. 1990 - Site was re-entered and additional
Spoil was removed
October 4 & 5 1990 - Five (5) auger holes were placed in an
attempt to further define the plume. Four were located on Normac
• property, and one was located to the west of the tank site on
property owned by Hammertown. Partners
ril 8 & O 1992 - Because the previous work had not determined
the vertical & lateral extent of the contamination, six (6) addi-
tional auger holes were placed on the properties. The limits
were defined except in a southerly direction on the Hammertown
property.
August 13, 1992 - Three additional soil borings were located on
Hammertown Partners property, which revealed that Toluene was
detected in all three holes at 40 ' bgl, the approxmate water
table level in the Spring of 1986.
Januqry L4 & 17, X994 - Two auger holes, identified as TB--1 .
located on Normac property, and TB-2. located on the Hammertown
site, were cored and sampled at 5 foot intervals from 21 ' to
71 'bgl. At that depth, a hydropunch tool was driven to approxi-
mately 75' in order to obtain a clean uncontaminated groundwater
sample. Laboratory results showed that all soil and water
samples from both auger holes were below detection limits for
BTEX & TPA--G. Refer to TABLES I thru VII for summaries of all
laboratory results since initiation of the project_
A Site Assessment Report and Results of Soil/water investigation,
dated Feb_ 21, 1994 , was prepared by WJH and submitted to the
2
