i <br /> SECOR www secor com <br /> INTERNATIONAL <br /> INCORPORATED <br /> ® � , 3017 Kilgore Road,Suds 100 , <br /> k i�Tl ir R7f i H1 +;�-111 Rancho Cordova,CA 95870 <br /> 81 861-0430 TEL <br /> 8186 861-0430 rnx <br /> iO3 AU3J 20 PM 12, 4 <br /> August 7, 2003 <br /> Mr Harlin Knoll <br /> San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br /> 304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor <br /> Stockton, CA 95202 <br /> 1 <br /> RE Fuel System Upgrade Report j <br /> 7-Eleven Store Number 19976 <br /> 1399 North Main Street <br /> Manteca, California <br /> SECOR Project No 77EL 19976 23 0520 <br /> Dear Mr Knoll <br /> r � <br /> SECOR International Incorporated (SECOR) has prepared this letter on behalf of 7-Eleven, Inc (7- <br /> Eleven) to document the soil sample results obtained during the fuel line and underground storage <br /> tank (UST) upgrade activities conducted at 7-Eleven store number 19976, located at 1399 North <br /> Main Street in Manteca, California This work was conducted in accordance with the requirements of <br /> the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) The soil sample collection <br /> was performed by SECOR Glacier Environmental Services, Inc (Glacier) was subcontracted by 7- <br /> Eleven to complete the fuel system upgrade activities <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> The purpose of SECOR's project Involvement was to collect soil samples to assess subsurface <br /> conditions beneath the former product piping lines, dispenser Islands, and USTs Specifically, <br /> SECOR's scope of work consisted of the following tasks <br /> Preparation of a site-specific Health and Safety Plan, m <br /> Collection of soil samples beneath the dispenser islands and USTs at the direction of the <br /> SJCEHD specialist, <br /> Laboratory analysis of soil samples collected from beneath the dispensers, and % <br /> Preparation of this report documenting the product piping and UST upgrade, and soil { <br /> sampling activities <br /> SITE BACKGROUND <br /> UST replacement and associated soil sampling activities were first conducted in September 1996 { <br /> Five samples were collected at depths of 15 feet below ground surface (bgs) from beneath the <br /> USTs Benzene, total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), and methyl-tert-butyl ether <br /> (MtBE) were detected at concentrations of 0 93 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg), 220 mg/kg, and <br /> 0 35 mg/kg, respectively After overexcavation, soil samples collected at the edge of excavation <br /> contained TPHg, benzene, and MtBE at low concentrations Prior to backfilling the excavation, two <br /> horizontal vent lines were installed in the northern part of the tank pit floor at a depth of 11 to 11 5 <br /> feet bgs (Figure 2) The vent lines are constructed of 4-inch Schedule 40 PVC piping, each line with <br /> 20 feet of screened interval The lines are stubbed up inside a fiberglass box located in a planter <br /> 19976 Fuel Line&USTs Upgrade Reportl doc <br />
