Additional Site Assessment and Second Quarter 1999 Monitoring and Sampling Report 4 <br /> 7-Eleven Inc,Store#19976_1 399 N Main St_Manteca,California July 15,1999 <br /> 1 <br /> 30 SOIL AND GROUNDWATER ASSESSMENT WORK <br /> 31 Perrn ttinglSite-Specific Health and Safety Pian <br /> tPermits for the Installation of the sod boring and four groundwater monitoring wells were applied for and <br /> obtained from the SJCPHS Following a complete review of site conditions, IT Corporation revised the <br /> existing site-specific Health and Safety Plan as required by the Occupational Safety and Health <br /> Administration Standard Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response guidelines(29 Code of <br /> Federal Regulations 1910 120) The document was reviewed and signed by all IT Corporation personnel <br /> ' and subcontractors prior to commencement of work at the site <br /> 32 Soil Borings <br /> Between May 11 and May 17, 1999, IT Corporation supervised the drilling of five sod borings to depths of <br /> between 30 and 66 feet BGS using a drilling ng equipped with an 8-inch diameter hollow-stem augers <br /> All drilling equipment was steam cleaned prior to drilling each boring, and sampling equipment was <br /> washed In an Alconoxo(detergent) solution and rinsed with water between sampling Intervals All soil <br /> and rinse water generated during the drilling was placed in labeled Department of Transportation <br /> ' (DOT)-approved 55-gallon drums and left on the site pending transportation and disposal <br /> ' 33 Soil Sample Collection <br /> ' Soil samples were collected from three of the five soil bonngs, SB-1,MW-4A and MW-5 (later renamed <br /> MW-5A), at 5-foot intervals to a maximum depth of between 30 and 66 feet BGS, beginning at 5 feet <br /> BGS, using a split-spoon sampler lined with 2-inch-diameter by 6-Inch-long brass sample tubes The <br /> ' sample tubes were sealed with Teflon pads, plastic caps and tape, labeled, placed on ice in an <br /> insulated container, and submitted for analyses under chain-of-custody manifest to state-certified Core <br /> Analytical Laboratories, In Anaheim, California Soil samples were field screened for hydrocarbon <br /> vapors using a flame-ionization detector(FID) Sod was logged using the Unified Soil Classification <br /> ' System by a IT Corporation field geologist working under the supervision of a California registered <br /> geologist(Appendix A) <br /> 1 <br /> ' 1997642 sar <br /> 1 <br />
