MAIN STREET,MANTECA,CALIFORNIA
Site Code:'1435
Dear Ms. Oz:
Fluor Daniel GTI,Inc.proposes the following workplan to.complete soil hydrocarbon delineation at-Southland
Store No. 19976, as requested-by the San'Joaquln County Department of Environmental Health (SJCDEH)
in correspondence dated February 1.7, 1998:
The purpose of the proposed scope of work is to complete characterization of soil hydrocarbons near the
former location of the underground storage-tanks at:the referenced site;,including:.1)documenting the vertical
and lateral extent of the plume;2) ascertaining if residual soil hydrocarbons have biodegraded in the primary
source area since tank removal, and 3) determining if,groundwater beneath the site contains petroleum
hydrocarbon constituents.See Figure 1 for the site location, and Figure 2 for the site plan showing general site
features, previous analytical data, and the proposed soil boring locations:
Groundwater was not encountered during previous site activities, but is expected to be encountered during
drilling at about 15-20.feet below grade.
If future results confirm 1996 data and residual concentrations under the former underground storage tank area
remain low and/or have further degraded since 1996(when-the highest levels observed were <1 part per million
(ppm)benzene,<250 ppm total petroleum hydrocarbons;and <1 ppm methyl tertiary butyl ether) or if low-risk
groundwater, conditions can be established, site closure will be requested in accordance with State Water
Resources Control Board and State Reimbursement Fund.policies.. Included in the report will be a discussion
of additional data relevant to closure determination; including the location and perforated interval of,any
domestic or municipal wells within a 2000-foot radius of the site.. This data will be obtained from state and local
agency records. =
II
C)
( 757 Arnold Drive, Suite'D /Martinez, CA'94553-USA (510).370-3990 FAX(510) 370-3991
f
