MAIN STREET,MANTECA,CALIFORNIA <br /> Site Code:'1435 <br /> Dear Ms. Oz: <br /> Fluor Daniel GTI,Inc.proposes the following workplan to.complete soil hydrocarbon delineation at-Southland <br /> Store No. 19976, as requested-by the San'Joaquln County Department of Environmental Health (SJCDEH) <br /> in correspondence dated February 1.7, 1998: <br /> The purpose of the proposed scope of work is to complete characterization of soil hydrocarbons near the <br /> former location of the underground storage-tanks at:the referenced site;,including:.1)documenting the vertical <br /> and lateral extent of the plume;2) ascertaining if residual soil hydrocarbons have biodegraded in the primary <br /> source area since tank removal, and 3) determining if,groundwater beneath the site contains petroleum <br /> hydrocarbon constituents.See Figure 1 for the site location,and Figure 2 for the site plan showing general site <br /> features, previous analytical data,and the proposed soil boring locations: <br /> Groundwater was not encountered during previous site activities, but is expected to be encountered during <br /> drilling at about 15-20.feet below grade. <br /> If future results confirm 1996 data and residual concentrations under the former underground storage tank area <br /> remain low and/or have further degraded since 1996(when-the highest levels observed were <1 part per million <br /> (ppm)benzene,<250 ppm total petroleum hydrocarbons;and <1 ppm methyl tertiary butyl ether) or if low-risk <br /> groundwater,conditions can be established, site closure will be requested in accordance with State Water <br /> Resources Control Board and State Reimbursement Fund.policies.. Included in the report will be a discussion <br /> of additional data relevant to closure determination; including the location and perforated interval of,any <br /> domestic or municipal wells within a 2000-foot radius of the site..
