1. INTRODUCTION
' On behalf of Exxon Company, U.S.A. (Exxon), EA Engineering, Science, and Technology (EA)
• has prepared this work plan for confirmation soil borings at Exxon Retail Site (RS) 7-0137,
located at 1605 South El Dorado Street, Stockton, California(Figure 1). This work plan
provides a site description, a summary of previous site investigations, a summary of the
distribution of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and groundwater, a summary of the remediation
progress at the site, a proposed scope of work, and a tentative schedule to perform the work.
`r The objective of the current investigation is to confirm that hydrocarbon-impacted soil at the site
has been remediated by soil vapor extraction. This will be determined by collecting soil samples
at locations and depths where elevated petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations were detected
. during previous investigations. The findings of the proposed investigation will be used to
support a request for closure at the site.
Lo
The work plan proposes the following scope of activities:
,.. 0 Obtain soil boring permits from the San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division(SJCEHD).
-• 0 Prepare a Site Health and Safety Plan.
• Locate proposed sampling locations, notify Underground Service Alert, and clear locations
with an underground utility locating contractor.
• Collect soil samples at four locations at discrete depths of approximately 16, 25, 35, and
WZ 45 feet below ground surface (bgs). Soil samples will be screened in the field and
submitted for laboratory analyses. ;t
_! 0,1
• Collect grab groundwater samples at approximately 46 feet bgs(first encountered water)
by lowering a bailer into the temporarily cased hole at this depth.
V
• Remove the casing and backfill the borehole to grade after all samples are collected in
accordance with local regulatory requirements.
• Submit groundwater samples and selected soil samples to a state-certified laboratory and
analyze the samples for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g),benzene,
. toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX), and methyl tert-butyl ether(MTBE)by
EPA Method 8015 mod/8020; and for MTBE, tert-amyl methyl ether(TAME), ethyl tert-
butyl ether(ETBE), di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), and tert-butyl alcohol (TBA)by EPA
Method 8260.
• Prepare a report summarizing field activities, analytical data, and proposed well locations
if warranted.
. 76137.WP9vB.C[AS.WP,wPri 1
i.r
