Site Background Information Quick N Save 42 <br /> Page 3 of 4 <br /> DISPOSAL OF HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL <br />' On 25 May 2000, 522 cubic yards(approximately 639 tons)of excavated soil from the former UST <br /> and former UST area was disposed at Forward Landfill <br /> 1 <br /> WASTE OIL UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL <br />' One waste oil UST (500-gallon)was removed from the site on 13 March 2001 Following removal <br /> of the tank,a backhoe was used to collect a soil sample from 2 feet below the end of the former UST <br />' A composite-soil sample was collected from the soil stockpile TPH-d was detected in the stockpile <br /> sample and the waste oil UST pit sample at concentrations of 440 mg/kg and 280 mg/kg, <br /> respectively BTEX compounds and polycholonnated-biphenyls were not detected in soil samples <br />' analyzed <br />' MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION <br />' On 17 and 18 March 2004,four soil borings(MW 1 through MW3 and B 1)were advanced at the site <br /> A CME-75HT truck mounted drill ng was utilized to advance 8 25-mch diameter hollow-stern <br /> augers to the total depth of each boring, 50 feet bsg in boring B1 and 45 feet bsg in borings MWI <br />' through MW 3 Pilot borings MWI, MW2 and MW3 were completed as ground water monitoring <br /> wells using 2-inch diameter PVC casing,with 0 020-inch slotted screen installed from approximately <br /> 25 feet to 45 feet bsg The filter pack(No 2/12 Lonestar sand)was installed from approximately 23 <br /> I feet to 45 feet bsg, and a nominal 2-foot bentonite chip plug was then installed above the filter pack <br /> and hydrated The wells were then grouted to near the surface with portland cement,and water-tight, <br /> traffic-rated well boxes were installed over the wells <br /> IGenerally, an orange-brown, dry, clayey silt (fill matenal),was encountered from surface grade to <br /> approximately 6 feet bsg Orange brown to brown, dry, silts, clayey silts and silty sands were <br />' encountered from approximately 6 feet bsg to 16 feet bsg in borings MW 1, MW2 and B 1 and from <br /> approximately 6 feet to 26 feet bsg in MW3 Orange brown to blue grey hydrocarbon stained,moist, <br /> clay was encountered from approximately 16 feet to 31 feet bsg in MWI, MW2 and BI and from <br /> 26 to 31 feet bsg in the area of MW3 Gray hydrocarbon stained, moist to saturated silty sand was <br /> encountered from approximately 31 feet bsg to 45 feet bsg in borings MW2,MW3 and B 1 and from <br /> 31 feet bsg to 36 feet bsg in boring MW1 Blue hydrocarbon stained, clay was encountered from <br /> Iapproximately 36 feet bsg to 45 feet bsg in soil boring MWI and from 46 feet bsg to 50 feet bsg in <br /> boring B 1 <br /> ITPH-g was detected in soil samples collected from borings MW3 and BI at maximum <br /> concentrations in each boring of 8 mglkg(MW3-30)and 49 mg/kg(B1-35),respectively Benzene, <br /> IAdvanced GeoEnvironmentai,Inc <br />
