The size and the
shape of the exclusion zone will be determined by the site conditions; it will be large
enough to include the potentially hazardous zone around the sites.
Contractor will place yellow caution barricade tape around the excavation areas any time
the work area is left unattended and until the excavation is backfilled to its original
ground surface level. Equipment and materials will be stored inside the barricaded area
to secure them after hours. No flammable liquid will be stored onsite for safety reasons.
Weatherproof warning signs will be attached to the barricade tape in compliance with
California Proposition 65 requirements.
Identify the location and alignment of underground and overhead utilities and obstacles -
This includes contacting Underground Service Alert to complete an underground utility
clearance on the public right-of-way. In addition, a subsurface geophysical survey will
be performed in the area where the proposed excavation will take place prior to initiating
the excavation program. Decommissioning of utilities identified in the area of the
proposed excavations is not anticipated in this workplan. If utilities are encountered
requiring decommissioning, Contractor will notify the Developer immediatelk
5.3 USTREMOVAL PROCEDURES
Underground tanks shall be removed by a qualified, California licensed contractor in accordance
with the following requirements:
(a)All applicable authorities having jurisdiction shall be notified(SJCEHD and
CVRWQCB).
(b)A safe workplace shall be maintained throughout the prescribed activities.
(c)All flammable and combustible liquids and residues shall be removed from the tank,
appurtenances, and piping and shall be properly disposed of.
(d) The tank shall be made safe by either purging it of flammable vapors or inerting the
potential explosive atmosphere in the tank.
