Present at
the meeting were you and your wife,Ray Kablanow(representing Geological Technics,Inc.
(GTI)),Jeffrey Wong and Margaret Lagorio (representing PHS/EHD), and Marty Hartzell
(representing Central Valley Region Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB)).
In a letter Response to May 17, 2000 Letter fromSJCPHS/EHD dated June 1,2000,GTI
requested PHS/EHD reconsider the rejection of Additional Soil and Grmundvaterinzatzgztion
dated April 11, 2000 prepared by GTI. It was agreed at the meeting that the above-
mentioned workplan is to be set aside, and a new work plan that will define the vertical
extent of the groundwater contamination in the vicinity of the suspected source area (the
former dispenser location) at the above referenced site should be submitted to PHS/EHD by
August 25, 2000.
GTI expressed that the 2,000 feet well survey discussed in Appendix A of the Tri-Regional
Board Staff Recommendations has been performed. It was agreed that the report of this
survey should be submitted to PHS/EHD by August 25,2000.
Due to the age of the site's former fueling facility,PHS/EHD recommended adding 1,2-
dicholoroethane (1,2 DCA), 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB),as well as ethanol and methanol in
future quarterly sampling analyses. Some laboratories are capable of running a complete
suite of petroleum constituents and fuel additives by EPA Method 8260B,which is already
being used to test for the 5 fuel oxygenates in the quarterly monitoring analyses. Generally,
there should be little additional cost from the laboratory.
Analytical results of the December 1999 water sample collected from the domestic well
located at 60 Castle Street, adjacent to the site, were 76 parts per billion (ppb) of Total
Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH g),0.5 ppb of Toluene, and 0.8 ppb of Total
Xylenes. PHS/EHD recommended at the meeting that the well be video-logged prior to
destruction. A work plan is not necessary for the video-log. PHS/EHD recommended the
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
