GeologicalTecknics_Inc.- 3 Page 3
Response to May 17,2000 Letter from SJC PHS/EHD
.'_-`"Project No.723.2
June 1,2000
i
• Please schedule a meeting to discuss the status of the site and corrective action
requirements with Mr. Valentine and GTI. Mr. Noah Heller and UST Cleanup Fund
representatives will be contacted and requested to attend the meeting.
I
Rationale: Senate Bill No. 665, effective January 1, 2000, requires the local agency to
advise and work with the responsible party to seek cost pre-approval of corrective
action costs[California Health and Safety Code, Section 25299. 37 (c)(6)(A)].
i
• Please state in writing that PHS/EHD is requiring CPT with Simul-Probe type
technology rather than making a recommendation for its use.
Rationale: This distinction is necessary in order to facilitate cost reimbursement from
the UST Cleanup Fund. If CPT with Simul-Probe technology is attempted and proves
unsuccessful, then the UST Cleanup Fund could make a determination that the costs
were unreasonable due to a foreseeable lack of success and thus requiring additional
mobilizations to the site.
If you have any questions, please call me at(209) 538-6424.
Respectfully Submitted,
CGeol"ogicafTechinics Inc. j
Joseph D. Angulo
Geologist
cc: Steve Valentine` --
Mark List- CRWQCB
Ms. Linda Sanborn—USTCFP
Mr. Allen Patton-USTCFP
!
