PUBLIC H ALTH SERVI S
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION 1' `
Karen Furst, M.D., M.P.H., Health Officer
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor • Stockton, CA 95202
209/468-3420
STEPHEN VALENTINE UOPY
STEVE & GENES SERVICE
6232 HEMET AVE
STOCKTON CA 95207AA25im
RE: STEVE &GENES SERVICES SITE CODE: 2080
2315 N EL DORADO ST
STOCKTON CA 95204
The purpose of this letter is to summarize the decisions made between San Joaquin County Public
Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) and Geological Technics,Inc.staff
members at the above-referenced site on August 21, 1999.
Collection of soil and pore-water samples using SimulProbe technology and installation of two short
screened deep monitoring wells (MW-101 and MW-201) at the site were originally proposed in
Work Plan Addendum#2 dated February 15, 1999 prepared by Geological Technics,Inc. The proposed
work took place between August 19 and August 21, 1999.
Due to tight grain clayey soil and silting problem encountered in the bottom of the boring originally
J intended for the installation of MW-201,PHS/EHD agreed with the Geological Technics field staff to
not construct a well. The respective boring was renamed SB-201 and was tremmie grouted after final
SimulProbe soil and water samples were collected at 111.5 feet below surface grade(bsg). PHS/EHD
recommends that all the discrete soil and water samples obtained by the SimulProbe be analyzed for all
oxygenates. DIPE and TBA have been detected in previous ground water samples. Since one of the two
wells originally proposed was not installed, it is important that the data obtained be maximized.
The domestic well at 60 Castle Street had not been destroyed. PHS/EHD recommends collecting a
water sample from the well at the next quarterly sampling and analyze for gasoline, aromatic
hydrocarbons,and oxygenates.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jeffrey Wong at (209) 468-0335.
Donna Heran,REHS,Director
Environmental H th Division
1
V r
effrey Wong,REHS Margaret L`' orio,REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
c: RWQCB, Central Valley Region-Mark List
c: Geological Technics,Inc. -Raynold I.
