J. Hunter & Associates.
Analytical results of water samples from all six monitoring wells (MW) at the
above referenced site continued to indicate petroleum hydrocarbon
contamination to groundwater. MW3 continued to be the highest impacted well.
Concentrations of aromatic hydrocarbons as Benzene, Toluene, Ethyl-Benzene,
xylenes (BTEX) and Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon as gasoline (TPH-G) found in
the groundwater sample of MW3 have all increased since April 1998. Tert-Butyl
Alcohol (TBA) was detected in MW1, MW2, MW3, MW4, and MW5. Di-isopropyl
ether (DIPE) was detected in MW3 and MW4. The water table continues to be
above the screen intervals of all six MWs; therefore the analytical results are
most likely diluted. Neither the vertical or horizontal extent of the contamination
plume has been determined.
In a letter dated August 3, 1998, PHS/EHD directed.that a work plan to define
the vertical extent of the contamination be submitted to this office by October 3,
1998: This work plan has not been received. William Hunter of Wm. J. Hunter &
Associates has since retired from the area of environmental consulting work and
you have retained the services of Geological Technics, Inc. as your new
consultant.
In a telephone conversation on October 19, 1998, PHS/EHD and Raynold
Kablanow, Ph. D, of Geological Technics, Inc. agreed the following should be in
the work plan:
1) Definition of the vertical extent of the contamination near the source area,
then completing the horizontal definition of the contamination. Soil
information from previous borings was limited to 55 feet below surface grade
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
