El Dorado St.
Stockton CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) has
reviewed the January 1994 "Problem Assessment Report Covering Soil Contamination
Investigation" prepared by William J. Hunter and Associates for the above referenced site.
The report indicates that contamination is present in the area of boring B-2 at 36 feet below
grade. This boring was drilled east of the former waste oil tank location.
PHS/EHD has also recently reviewed the waste oil tank removal data. This tank was
removed on April 20, 1987. The tank excavation was over excavated due to contamination
and re-sampled on August 14, 1987. A soil sample from a depth of 15.3 feet below grade
was analyzed and contamination of 3100 parts per million motor oil was confirmed. No
further remediation activity occurred between August 14, 1987 and January 1994.
PHS/EHD recommends further assessment of and/or a re-excavation of the former waste
oil tank location based upon the tank removal data and the January 1994 soil boring data.
For further information please contact Steven Sasson of my staff at (209) 468-3459.
Ernest M.
