El,Dorado Street, Stockton, CA i
Dear Mr. Valentine:
As requested in a December 5, 2012 email from Mr. Harlin Knoll of San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD), Geological Technics Inc. prepared and
f submitted a work plan for destruction of the monitoring wells at the site as noted above.
Following the review of the work plan, a SJCEHD email dated April 17, 2013 requested that
an addendum be prepared which describes the methods for destroying the CMT multi-
chamber monitoring wells.
Ground 'Zero Analysis, Inc. (GZA) has prepared the following work plan addendum
describing the methods that will be used in the destruction of the CMT wells.
CMT Well Abandonment
Due to conflicting recommendations on the destruction of CMT wells by SJCEHD, drillers
and the manufacturer of the CMT multi-chamber monitoring wells, two (2) methods of CMT
well destruction wilt be discussed below.
GZA recommends that pressure grouting be the initial method of well'destruction for CMT
wells MW-7, MW-8, and MW-9. MW-7 and MW-8 have both reported residual
concentrations of contaminants of concern and MW-9 has historically been non-detect or
slightly above detection limits for a few constituents prior to 2008. A complete drill out of
the well will be used as a secondary method of well destruction if pressure grouting is
unsuccessful'.
I
I
l
R
