Geofogicaf?echnics Inc Page 2 <br /> Work Plan <br /> Valentine(Castle Motors) <br /> Project No 723 2 <br /> October 13, 2000 <br /> 2.2 We ba Well Abandonment <br /> The location of the well on the property limits accessibility, therefore, positioning a drill rig <br /> over the well is not possible The exact abandonment process will need to be determined after <br /> the video survey is performed However, regardless of what other technologies may or may <br /> not be used in the abandonment process, remote pressure grouting is proposed as the method <br /> to fill the well <br /> The pressure grouting process is as follows <br /> • A neat cement grout (containing less then 4% bentonite) will be pumped under pressure <br /> through a tremie pipe to the bottom of the well In this manner, the grout will displace the <br /> water in the well insuring that it is completely filled with grout <br /> • After the grout has displaced all water from the well and flowed over the top, a pressure <br /> cap will be fitted to the casing and additional grout will be pumped into the well casing <br /> under pressure This will force the cement into the filter pack <br /> • The amount of cement grout volume needed to fill the well will be calculated and the <br /> amount utilized will be tracked to judge the effectiveness of the process <br /> • After the grout has been installed, the top of casing will be cut off to a maximum of 12 <br /> inches below grade and the hole will be filled with clean dirt to ground surface <br /> Other technologies will be evaluated upon review of the well video log and discussed with San <br /> Joaquin County personnel An addendum will be submitted if other work is to be performed <br /> 3.0 SCHEDULE & REPORTING <br /> Geological Technics Inc anticipates beginning fieldwork no later than 30 days after work plan <br /> approval, issuance of the abandonment permit, and upon cost pre-approval by the USTCFP <br />' It is anticipated that there may be a delay in negotiating access to the well from the property <br /> owner, however, every effort will be made to move this project forward in a timely manner <br /> The information gathered during this phase of work will be presented in a report Dr Ray <br /> Kablanow, a registered geologist, will supervise this project Copies of the report will be <br /> submitted to the client, SJC PHSCEHD, RWQCB-CVR and USTCFP <br /> r <br /> 10 <br /> i <br />
