SITE SECURITY <br /> Access during all on--sate activities will be restricted to author- <br /> ized personnel ONLJ. All others must contact the Safety Coordinator <br /> /Project Manager or person--in-charge prior to entering or leaving <br /> the site. <br /> RECORD KEEPING <br /> All safety records pertaining to the site characterization study <br /> will be maintained by the Safety Coordinator/Project Manager They <br /> will be made available to authorized persons upon request. <br /> ATR MONITORING <br /> The Safety Coordinator/Project Manager will conduct periodic air <br /> monitoring using direct reading sampling equipment as necessary, <br /> dependent on the known or anticipated conditions at the site if <br /> monitoring is considered necessary, the minimum procedure will be <br /> performed. <br /> (A) Total Organic Vapors: <br />• A direct reading photoionization detection (PID) meter (HNU PI 101 <br /> or equivalent) will be used to monitor the concentrations of organic <br /> vapors in the work area. Measurements will be taken at least once <br /> every 15 minutes during surface and subsurface sample collection <br /> The meter will be calibrated for Benzene Total organic vapor <br /> measurements will be used to determine the appropriate levels of <br /> respiratory protection and conditions for site evacuation Total <br /> organic vapor concentrations in the workers breathing zone in excess <br /> of 10 ppm above background will trigger an upgrade from level D to <br /> level C protection. Breathing zone concentrations in excess of 250 <br /> ppm will require immediate on-site work stoppage until levels fall <br /> below 250 ppm. <br /> EMPLOYEE TRAINING AND INFORMATION <br /> All personel working with potentially hazardous materials have <br /> completed the certified 40 hour OSHA hazardous waste training <br /> course, and have been instructed in the following areas: <br /> # Workers are aware of the potential hazards that may be <br /> encountered. <br /> # Knowledge and skills necessary to perform the work with <br /> minimal risk to workers health and safety_ <br /> # Familiarization with the Site Safety plan and site-specific <br /> requirements. <br /> • The general training plan for all sites encompasses- <br /> 3 <br />
