El Dorado St.
' Stockton, CA
Project No 723 2
' January 21, 2004
' EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Geological Technics Inc has prepared the attached Report summarizing the fieldwork
completed on November 20 - 26, 2003 This work involved the installation of three new
multi-chambered monitoring wells to further define the vertical and lateral extent of the soil
and groundwater plumes The new wells' boreholes were installed to the north, east, and
southwest of the site across E Castle, N El Dorado and W Adams streets, respectively
Soil samples obtained from the new borings indicate that the soil contamination is limited
on-site to the area of the former dispenser island The extent of the groundwater
contamination will be determined when the new multi-chambered monitoring wells are
sampled This work is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2004
' Mr Jeff Wong of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJC/EHD)
supplied GTI staff with a copy of groundwater monitoring report for the Shell Service
Station facility across N El Dorado Street The report indicates that an unauthorized release
(leak) of gasoline has occurred at this facility and a co-mingled groundwater plume may be
present GTI will reserve comment on the groundwater plume situation until after the initial
groundwater sampling of the new wells is completed
1.0 SITE HISTORY
In April 1987 the site's two 3,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tanks (UST) and one
150-gallon waste oil UST were removed (see Figure l Vicinity Map & Figure 2 Site Map)
Analyses of soil samples from the UST excavations revealed that a petroleum hydrocarbon
release had occurred The SJC/EHD subsequently directed Mr Valentine to begin an
investigation to determine the extent of the petroleum release
The following is a summary of worked performed at the site to date
1
