TANK CLOSURE REPORT
2320 EL Dorado, Stockton, CA
Aegis Project No, 89-049
Page 7
3.. 2 Tank Closure
-
A total of three underground storage tanks and existing product lines
were removed under the direction of' the San Joaquin County' s t
Environmental Health Division. Prior to removal of the existing
underground storage tanks:, backfill material above and surrounding the
upper portion of the product tanks was removed. Excavated soil was
screened for the presence of organic vapors and separated, on that
basis . The material was stockpiled in two separate piles. ., The piles
were located in the northwest corner of the property and immediately
east of the excavated tank location. Soil samples were obtained during
excavation according to the Regional Board Guidelines and
Environmental Health Division 's requirements,
Analytical results from 'soil samples obtained at the bottom of the old
tank pit (Figure 3) indicated that over-excavation had removed soil
containing petroleum hydrocarbons detected during initial ,tank
excavation. Mobile laboratory analytical results of soil samples taken
from the sidewalls of `the proposed new tank location indicate that
petroleum hydrocarbons detected in samples obtained from soil borings
advanced during the pre-tank site assessment have been removed with
the .excavated soil . Verbal permission was obtained from the San'
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department to back-fill the old
tank pit with soil excavated from the proposed new tank location.
The tank pit samples were submitted to a state-certified mobile
laboratory for analysis of` low/medium boiling point. total petroleum
hydrocarbons (TPH as gasoline) with BTEX distinction, total lead, and
Ethylene Dibromide. Soil sample laboratory analytical reports are
presented in Appendix A. Laboratory results are summarized in Table
2 .
