The work was done in
November 2007. During this phase of work a total of 5 Geoprobe soil borings were
advanced at this site to collect soil and grab groundwater samples, and 10 borings were
advanced to collect soil vapor samples.
The reported analytical results of the soil samples collected at 15, 20 and 25 feet below
surface grade from soil boring B-11, which was located near a former oil/water separator,
show significant concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons. The EHD recommends you
further investigate this contamination.
This letter is to inform you that the EHD has filed a Notification of Hazardous Waste
Discharge and sent a copy to the Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley
Region (CVRWQCB) and the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC). If you
wish to perform further investigation, you may continue to perform it as an Environmental
Assessment under the EHD, or contact the CVRWQCB or DTSC for oversight. If you
proceed as an Environmental Assessment and groundwater beneath the site is found to
be contaminated, the EHD would refer the site to the CVRWQCB for oversight. Duncan
Austin is the CVRWQCB-SLIC (spills, leaks, investigations and cleanup) Unit contact and
his phone number is (916) 464-4712.
In addition, any contamination found must be disclosed to future buyers of the property.
If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
Sincerely,
Lori Duncan, REHS Margare REH
Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist Program Coordinator
