26 September 2002 <br /> AGE-NC Project 02-0946 <br /> Page 5 of 5 <br /> SOIL SAMPLING PROCEDURES <br /> Soil for sampling will be obtained from the base and excavator a alls of the will becavation using sampled withtaemetricasoil <br /> The excavated soil material in the bucket of the <br /> sampling hammer and one 6-inch long by 2-inch diameter brasssealed with he tapexposed ends of the <br /> sample sleeve will be covered with Teflon sheets, capped <br /> and Soil samples will be collected from the soil stockpile by digging approximately one foot into the soil <br /> stockpile with a stainless steel or carbon steel trowel,then pressing a metric soil sampling hammer <br /> and one 6-inch long by 2-inch diameter brass sleeve into the opening. <br /> ti <br /> Following sample collection, each sample sleeve will be labeled <br /> with <br /> t11beplan oring a io ach lied <br /> time,date and sampler's initials.Appropriately sealed and labeledsamples <br /> container under ice and transported under chain-of-custody procedure to a DHS-certified laboratory. <br /> EXCAVATION BACKFILLING PROCEDURES <br /> The excavation will be backfilled with clean fill sand and/or pea gravel mixtures.
