{
I
10 September 2004
J AGE-NC Project No 04-1129
Ji
• A mass-volume calculation using the data collected during investigation of the former UST
area yields approximately 1,781 gallons ofTPH-d remaining in soil at the site(Appendix D)
• AIthough no record exists to confirm the installation date of the USTs at the site,it appears
' that the tanks have been place for an extensive period of time Based on the construction
materials and design ofjthe USTs and associated vault, AGE assumes that the tanks were
' W _ likely Installed a miminum of 60 years ago Review of aerial, photographs Indicates that
operations at the site related to the use of the USTs and the material contained in them were
" phased out by the 1970's Therefore, based on the lack ofdetectable concentrations ofTPH=d
' in ground water, the relatively shallow vertical limit of TPH-d-impacted'soil and relative
Immobility of longer chain hydrocarbons, AGE concludes that petroleum hydrocarbons
remaining beneath the site appear to pose minimal risk to human health and beneficial use
of ground water at and down-gradient from the subject site
I
' 7.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon data collected from'the site, AGE recommends the following
• No further subsurface Investigation at this time
' • Consideration of the facility for closure as a low risk ground water site f
' 8.0. LIMITATIONS
' Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based mainly
upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the
geologic/hydrogeologic conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation were made from
a limited number of available data points(I a monitonng well ground water samples, grab ground
water samples, soil samples),and subsurface conditions may vary away from these data points No
' other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the professional interpretations, opinions, and
recommendations contained in thus report
i
j
IAdvanced GeAnvironmental,Inc
