i • 21 January 2004
AGE-NC Project No 04-1129
3 12 Collection and Analysis of Ground Water Samples
IAfter allowing the wells to achieve a minimum 80% recovery of the pre-purge volume, water
samples were collected from monitoring wells MW-1,MW-2,and MW-3 using the Watera Internal
I pump The samples were transferred into laboratory-supplied 40-m1 EPA-approved volatile organic
analysis(VOA)vials containing 0 5 ml 18%hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative and into one
1-liter amber bottle without a sample preservative The sample containers were then labeled with
well designation, date, time of sampling and the sampler's initials The samples were transported in
a chilled container under chain-of-custody to CTEL, a California Department of Health Services
(DHS)-certified laboratory, for analysis The samples were analyzed for
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method
I 8015 Modified, and
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes(BTEX)and methyl tertiary-butyl ether in
accordance with EPA Method 8021B
4.0. FINDINGS
Ground water elevation, flow direction, and gradient were determined from field data collected on
' 12 January 2004
I41 GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
Depth to ground water was measured at between 35 64 feet and 36 60 feet bsg in wells MW-1
through MW-3 Relative ground water elevations at the site ranged from 35 01 feet below MSL in
well MW-2 to 36 60 feet below MSL in well MW-3 (Table 2) Ground water flow direction was
inferred to be toward the southeast at a gradient of approximately 0 01 ft/ft Figure 3 depicts the
contours for January 2004
I4 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
None of the target analytes were detected at or above laboratory reporting limits in the samples
collected from the three ground water monitoring wells
Analytical results for the ground water samples for the January 2003 monitoring event are
summarized on Table 3 The laboratory report (CTLE Laboratory IDs 0401-049-1 through
j 0401-049-3), QA/QC and chain-of-custody are included in Appendix C
 Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
