N <br />�tlpd! <br /> _I 4.2 Physical Hazards <br /> Physical hazards present at Cal Tk site are included but not limited to the following: <br /> I � <br /> j • thermal stress <br /> ill <br /> • fire and explosion <br /> • electrical hazards <br /> l <br /> • hot work <br /> • noise <br /> 4.3 General Safety Hazards <br /> _ Other possible safety hazards include the potential for slipping, falling, head trauma, <br /> lifting heavy objects, insect bites, etc. All personnel working on the project will wear <br /> appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye protection, hard hats, traffic <br /> vests and steel-toed boots as required by the SSO. First aid will be available on-site to <br /> take care of any minor injuries. Appropriate emergency services shall be contacted to <br /> deal with the emergency situations more serious than cuts or scrapes. <br /> 5.0 PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT <br /> Based on evaluation of potential hazards, hazard levels have been established as <br /> Level D, but the project manager should be prepared to upgrade protection to Level C <br /> if warranted by field conditions. <br /> I <br /> "EPA Standard Operating Safety Guidelines" defines the levels of protective clothing as <br /> follows: <br /> • LEVEL A: Fully encapsulating enca sulatin suit/ SCBA/ Hard hat/Steel-toed boots/Safety <br /> gloves <br /> • LEVEL B: Splash resistant suit/ SCBA/ Hard hat/ Steel-toed boots /Safety gloves <br /> • LEVEL C: Half face respirator/SCBA/Safety glasses/ Hard hat/ Steel-toed boots <br /> / Coveralls /Safety gloves <br /> • LEVEL D: Safety glasses/ Hard hat/Steel-toed boots /Coveralls/ Safety gloves <br /> Environeering, Inc.
