Site Health and Safety Plan
California Tank Lines Facility
Siena-Pacific Project No. 96-620.01
I -
i
7.0 PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
I _
Suggested item specifications and descriptions are for information only. Items which provide
equivalent protection may be purchased at the discretion of the SSO. The nature of this work
- is such that potentially hazardous conditions could be encountered. It is not possible to
determine in advance of actual conditions all protective requirements-
! 1
71 Personal Protective Eauiument
Items specified below are intended to allow the SSO the latitude to provide a range of
protection based upon actual working conditions. The SSO shall ensure that all workers are
-1 using the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while conducting work activities at the
job site. Items actually used should be based upon work activities and potential hazards. Some
may never be used if the severity of the hazard(s) do not require the protection provided by the
item.
I
The SSO shall specify which employees are required to wear the items listed above. It should
I
be recognized that the nature of the potential hazards are such that it is not possible to provide
maximum protection for suspected contaminants. If site conditions arise requiring additional
worker protection, the SSO shall see that appropriate protective apparel and equipment is
acquired and used prior to continuing the sampling project-
The following levels of personal protection have been designated for work at this site; generally
Level D protection is required, but the Project Manager should be prepared to upgrade
protection to Level C depending on the results of air monitoring (as described in Section 8).
I
Sierra-Pacific Groundwater Consultants, Inc. 15
