1'
3.0 FINDINGS
} 3.1 Groundwater Level Measurements
' Groundwater is present beneath the site at a depth of 27 5, 27 90, 27 40 and 26 90 feet below top
of casing (btc), as measured on 28 March 2001 in the four groundwater monitoring wells (MW-
1, MW-2, MW-3 and MW-4 respectively) installed on site The groundwater direction of flow
was calculated to be southeasterly at a gradient of 8 89x 10-04 ft/ft
The groundwater elevation increased 1 7 ft in the past quarter The gradient decreased to near
' zero
Groundwater elevations are shown in Table 1, and graphically in Figure 4
I
3.2 Groundwater Sample Analysis Results
' The groundwater was sampled on 28 March 2001 The results found in Table 2 indicate a
' continuous decrease of TPH-diesel contamination in MW-I MW-2 showed a significant
decrease in motor oils contamination as well as a continual decrease in TPH-gasoline and BETX
contamination MTBE was no longer evident in MW-2 MW-3 remains free from targeted
contamination TPH-gasoline, oxygenates and BETX contamination increased slightly in MW-
4
All groundwater samples secured by EI were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as
' diesel, oil and gasoline (TPHg, TPHd and TPHo) by EPA Method 8015 These groundwater
samples were also analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and total xylenes (BTEX) by
' EPA Method 8020, and Methyl tert-Butyl Ether (MTBE)/oxygenates [di-isopropyl ether (DIPE),
ethyl-t-butyl ether (ETBE), tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME), t-butanol (TBA)] by EPA Method
' 8260
3.3 Floating Oil
Floating oil has been removed from MW-2 periodically, starting in January 2000 A total of
approximately 9 1 gallons of oil has been removed and the results are found in Table 3
Environeering,Inc Project No 01-003 10 Page 3
