Test Report — December 2008, dated 17 March 2010 , and
Groundwater Monitoring Report — Second Quarter 2010, dated 01 July 2010, both
submitted by your consulting firm Advanced GeoEnvironmental , Inc. (AGE) on your
behalf. In both reports AGE recommends that a corrective action plan (CAP) be
submitted to evaluate various alternative methods to mitigate the petroleum hydrocarbon
contamination in soil and groundwater at your site.
The EHD has informed AGE by email on 02 July 2010, that until the EHD receives
current analytical data for groundwater samples collected from the two most impacted
monitoring wells , MW- 1 and MW-7, the EHD will not comment concerning the submittal
of a CAP. Because groundwater samples were inadvertently not collected from MW- 1
and MW-7 during the sampling event on 03 June 2010 , AGE has scheduled these two
wells to be sampled on 23 July 2010.
In the second quarter 2010 groundwater monitoring report, AGE describes how
monitoring well MW-5 was discovered with the well lid and cap removed and the casing
plugged by asphalt and dirt making it impossible to gauge this well during the 03 June
2010 sampling event. AGE recommends that a work plan to abandon MW-5 be
submitted to the EHD and a replacement well not be installed . The EHD concurs that
this well be destroyed by over-drilling and removing the contents, and not replaced since
groundwater data for MW-5 submitted from 2000 to 2008 indicate low to non-detect
concentrations of chemicals of concern . AGE has since submitted a well destruction
permit and permitlinspection fee of $405 to the EHD and has scheduled the well
destruction for 26 July 2010.
I
