6 May 1991
(GeoAudit CV45-49C5-1. 10)
Details of the drilling and sampling procedures are as follows:
1) Notify the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division
(SJEHD) 48 hours prior to work initiation.
2) Drill one monitoring well to a depth of 50 - 55 feet using a
truck-mounted, continuous-flight, 8-inch diameter hollow-stem
augers using the well design depicted in Figure 3 .
3) Log auger returns in accordance with the Unified Soil
Classification System.
4) . Obtain one discrete soil sample at the capillary fringe using
a split-tube sampler loaded with three pre-cleaned brass
tubes.
5) Monitor auger returns and soil sample duplicates for the
presence of volatile organics using a photo-ionization
detector (PID) .
6) Preserve soil sample in the middle brass tube by covering both
ends with aluminum foil, capping, and sealing with tape.
7) Label and log soil samples on a chain-of-custody form.
8) Decontaminate sampling equipment in a tri-sodium phosphate
solution (TSP) and rinse twice with water prior to each
sampling run.
9) Steam-clean auger flights after drilling.
10) Contain soil cuttings in 55-gallon DOT drums and store on-site
pending analytical results.
11) No sooner than 48 hours after installation, measure to the
nearest 0. 01 foot, the static water level in the well.
12) Using a bailer, surge and purge the well. Obtain two water
samples from the well after temperature, pH, and conductivity
have stabilized.
13) Contain purged water in 55 gallon DOT drums and store on-site
pending analytical results.
14) Store samples under ice pending delivery to a state-certified
laboratory.
