Bank of Stockton-Western Lift
Groundwater Monitoring Plan
November 8,1995
f Page 3
t .
is opened, and the flow sampled using the same type of containers as used for
the monitoring wells.
Extreme`care will be exercised while collecting samples to prevent agitation of
the water contained in the bailer. Water samples will be transferred from the
' bailer into 40 ml VOA vials preserved with hydrochloric acid and 1 liter capacity
amber glass bottles (provided by the analytical laboratory) using a bottom
emptying device. which minimizes sample aeration during transfer of the
sample. All samples are checked for head space bubbles, labeled, inserted into
foam holders and placed in an ice chest cooled to 4°C for transport to the
laboratory.
Disposable gloves are worn by the sampling technician while collecting all
samples. The gloves were changed between wells to reduce the potential for
} cross-contamination.
{
A chain of custody document, listing all samples collected and their intended
analyses, accompanied the samples from field to the laboratory, thereby
providing a means to track their movement and insure their integrity.
LABORATORY ANALYSES
{ The groundwater. samples obtained are to be delivered to Sherwood Lab
(Department of Health Services Certification No. 1400), of Hilmar, California, for
analyses. The samples will be accompanied by a Chain of Custody.
i
The samples will be analyzed using the following methods:
• method 602-benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene, total xylenes (BTEX);
• method m8015/LUFT- total volatile hydrocarbons as gasoline
(TPH-Gasoline);
• method m8015/LUFT- total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons
(TEPH);
i
Detection limits for these analyses are as follows:
ja
E
8
i
