El Dorado
Stockton, California
' May 20, 1997
Project No 102 2
10 INTRODUCTION
' Field work completed at the site in March of this year and documented in an April 8,
1997 entitled Preliminary Soil and Groundwater Report, suggests that significant soil and
groundwater contamination exists at the site beneath the area of a former Union Oil 1,000
' gallon gasoline storage tank This Work Plan proposes that additional investigative and
emergency remedial work be completed to further mitigate the environmental conditions
' associated with this site
I
1.1 Site History
' Approximately 450 feet south of the 1,000 gallon tank pit, which is the source of this
gasoline release, three underground fuel storage tanks were removed in 1989 It was
' evident, based upon hydrocarbons detected in soil samples collected during the tank
removal, that the tanks had leaked and impacted soil and possibly groundwater at the site
Subsequently, much of the soil associated with that release was excavated and five
' groundwater monitoring wells were installed to monitor the groundwater contamination
As a part of a routine groundwater monitoring event in November of 1995, the former
domestic water well was sampled at the request of the LOP's overseeing officer
Gasoline range petroleum hydrocarbons were present at detectable levels in a
' 2937 Veneman Ave ,#B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc Phone (209)569-0293
Modesto, CA 95356 Fax (209) 569-0295
I
