El Dorado Street <br /> Stockton, California <br />' Project No 102 2 <br /> April 8, 1997 <br /> 1 <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> Based in information obtained during the completion of earlier site assessment work, the <br /> former Union Oil underground gasoline storage tank and piping associated with former above <br /> ground diesel tank(s) were found to have leaked The site assessment work is documented in <br /> the report prepared by Geological Technics Inc entitled, Soil Investigation, Vicinity of the <br /> Former "Oil Supply" Building which is dated July 19, 1996 That report documented a <br />' former 1,000 gallon gasoline UST The report concluded that the tank and what may have <br /> been underground piping used for diesel fuel leaked and impacted the soil in the vicinity of <br /> the former "Oil Supply" Building Based on analysis of water from a nearby domestic water <br />' well, it was suspected that groundwater may also have been affected <br /> Based on discussion with you, and other Bank of Stockton personnel, we proposed to install <br />' 8 soil borings for the purpose of helping to define the lateral and vertical extent of <br /> contamination that exists in the vadose zone which extends to a depth of about 35 feet <br /> beneath the surface This work was intended as the first step in characterizing the plume <br />' sufficiently well to develop a remedial action plan <br />' 1.1 SITE HISTORY <br /> As a part of a groundwater monitoring event at the Western Lift Site (in the southerly part of <br /> the subject Property) in November of 1995, a domestic water well was sampled and analyzed <br /> Detectable levels of gasoline range petroleum hydrocarbons were found in the water well As <br />' 2937 Veneman Ave ,#B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc Phone (209) 569-0293 <br /> Modesto, CA 95356 Fax(209)569-0295 <br /> 1 <br />
