' Bank of Stockton Page 4 <br /> BofS (Cuter) Preliminary Soil and Groundwater Investigation <br /> Project No 102 2 <br /> April 8, 1997 <br />' 2.0 FIELD SAMPLING AND DATA COLLECTION <br /> 2.1 Soil Boring Installation <br />' The 9 soil borings were drilled at locations shown in Figures 2, 3, 4, and 5 The borings were <br /> designated as B-6 through B-14 All borings were drilled to a total depth of 40 feet except <br />' borings B-9 and B-14 which were drilled to a total depth of 35 feet Soil samples were <br /> collected at 5 foot intervals and each boring was terminated at the point where the first water <br />' saturated soil sample was recovered <br /> Soil cuttings were containerized in DOT approved 55 gallon drums, labeled, and stored on <br />' site pending profiling and proper disposition After the borings were completed, the they <br /> were closed by filling neat cement The surface concrete paving material was then patched <br />' 2.2 Waste Disposal <br /> A total of 24 drums were filled with soil cuttings The drums were labeled and stored on site <br />' pending profiling and proper disposal Manley & Sons was contacted to pick-up and dispose <br /> of the soil at Forward Inc , a Class II landfill located in Stockton On April 7, 1997, the soil <br /> was properly disposed of as non-hazardous waste Documents relating to the soil disposal are <br /> herein attached as Appendix C <br /> 2.3 Soil Sample Collection Procedures <br /> Soil samples were collected for geological and analytical evaluation at five foot intervals <br /> p g g <br /> using a 2 0 inch diameter (i d ) California split spoon sampler with the sample contained in 2 <br />' by 6 inch stainless steel liners The sampler was driven up to 18 inches into the native soil <br /> using the 140 pound hammer mounted on the dnll ng The blow count was recorded for each <br />' sample collected All soil samples were sealed with aluminum foil, capped, labeled and <br /> placed in a cooler at 4' Celsius for transport to the laboratory following Chain of Custody <br /> protocol <br />' Not all soil samples collected were submitted for laboratory analysis Accordingly, a field <br /> screening procedure was used to select those samples which were tested Field observation <br />' methods (i a sediment type, color, texture, moisture and visible evidence of contamination <br /> such as staining and odor) were used to help identify potentially contaminated soil In all <br /> borings, at least two soil samples were selected for laboratory analysis <br />' Boring logs of soils encountered in each boring were kept by a registered geologist <br /> Recorded in these logs were notes on sampling intervals, boring locations and sediments <br /> intersected by the boring Guidelines described in the Unified Soil Classification System <br /> form the basis for soils classification while observations outside the system such as odor and <br />' 2937 Veneman Ave,#B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc Phone (209) 569-0293 <br /> Modesto, CA 95356 Fax (209) 569-0293 <br />
