1 Bank of Stockton-Cutter Lumber Site Page 6
Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report
Project No 1011
• April H,2001
' 3.0 DISCUSSION
3.1 Discussion of Data
Field and analytical data results are summarized in Tables 1 and 2 and illustrated in Figures 3
' through 5
The map of groundwater gradient (Figure 3) suggests that the flow of groundwater is to the
northeast The water table has risen about 1 5 feet since the last monitoring event in
December of, 2000 The direction and gradient of flow have remained generally consistent
' over the entire time the wells have been monitored
In general, the analytic data suggest that contaminant levels are gradually decreasing except
' in the area of MW-8B and MW7, near the core of the plume It appears that the lateral extent
of the contaminant plume may also be gradually decreasing The wells MW-10 and MW-11,
at the distal periphery of the plume have been producing samples with essentially non-
detectible levels to petroleum contaminants
3.2 Future Work Schedule
lie
Quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling should continue By informal agreement
with the PHS-EHD, additional work pertaining to engineered remedial action has been held
in abeyance pending the results of a feasibility study at the former Manna Pro facility, which
is adjacent to the south The two sites share many characteristics and it is suspected that the
eventual remedial action will also be similar at the two sites Geo-Phase recently completed
' the Corrective Action Plan for the Manna Pro site, and this plan has been approved
Conceptually, the approved CAP entails vapor extraction technology with simultaneous air
sparging It is anticipated that this same methodology will prove effective in mitigating the
gasoline release at this site In order to verify this methodology and to determine the
appropriate spacing for the service wells, we herein propose that pilot testing be completed
This pilot testing will involve a short period (about 1 week) in which temporary equipment
will be installed to extract petroleum laden vapors from on well and to inject air (sparge) into
a second well This work will also necessitate the construction of two new service wells
1 'I
1
' 2937 Veneman Ave,#B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc Phone(209)569-0293
Modesto,CA 95356 Fax(209)569-0293
