i <br /> Currently there is a large excavation pit in the parking lot near the <br /> northwest corner of the property (Figure 1-2). Soil has been mounded <br /> around the pit and a temporary fence has been placed on top of the <br /> mounded soil. The excavated soil has been segregated into stockpiles <br /> of clean soil and contaminated soil. <br /> Hydroloffy <br /> Ground surface elevation at the site is approximately 15 feet above <br /> mean sea level (MSL). Information supplied by the City of Stockton <br /> Public Works Division reported the elevation of the first unconfined <br /> groundwater in the Spring of 1990 at 20 feet below MSL. Thus, the <br /> static groundwater level may be between 35 and 40 feet below the <br /> ground surface. <br /> Surface water in the area is limited to French Camp Slough which <br /> runs northeast approximately 1500 feet from the site. French Camp <br /> Slough is a tributary of the San Joaquin River which flows northward <br /> approximately 3 miles to the west of the site. <br /> Soil ChanactPjZtion <br /> The existing floor of the excavation is at a depth approximately 15 feet <br /> below grade. The native soil at this depth is clay. A sandy material <br /> ... was encountered between 20' to 25' below grade. The sandy material <br /> is present on all sides of the excavation to a depth of 32 to 35 feet. <br /> Some additional clay was found at a 35' depth. The extent of this clay <br /> �. is unknown. <br /> A=a Q=dwater Elevations <br /> Groundwater elevations for the site area were compiled from March <br /> 1990 measurements of San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water <br /> Conservation District (SJCFCWCD), and California Department of <br /> Water Resources (DWR) monitoring wells. There is one production <br /> well located on the site approximately 500 feet south of the excavation. <br /> ` The well previously provided the mill with water for sanitary use and <br /> for the fire sprinkler system. The well is not currently in use. There <br /> are no other known wells within 500 feet of the investigation site. <br /> Results of Previous Investigations <br /> Soil samples have been submitted for laboratory analysis on three <br /> occasions during the past ten months. Six soil borings were drilled <br /> around the tank locations in conjunction with the Phase Ii site <br /> 1-2 <br />
