Potential exposures to petroleum hydrocarbon:1 <br /> vapors will be minimal given the low concentrations of volatile;p <br />' gasoline constituents detected in the soil and the low volatility ofd <br /> �Y diesel fuel. <br /> L '; k <br /> In order to minimize the hazards of working in an open excavation <br /> with heavy machinery, all personnel working in close proximity to I! <br /> the backhoe will be required to wear a hard hat and steel-toed work;1 <br /> boots. The 1:1 slope of the excavation walls will be maintained to.. <br /> prevent collapse of the excavation walls. <br /> In addition to hard hat and steel-toed boots, personnel working in:+ <br /> and around the excavation will be required to wear Tyvek®coveralls i <br /> at all times. Personnel handling soil samples will wear surgical;; } <br /> inner gloves and Nitrile® outer gloves to avoid skin contact with r <br /> contaminated soils. <br /> l <br /> A well equipped First-Aid Kit will be available at all times on-site for y <br /> minor injuries. All ERM-West field personnel are trained in the use h` <br /> of the First-Aid Kit and have completed the 40 hour course in Healthli ' <br /> and Safety Training for Hazardous Waste Workers as required by <br /> federal OSHA regulations found in 29CFR1910.120.
