I <br /> E ® GROUNDWATER <br /> ❑ ❑ TECHNOLOGY, INC. 4057 Port Chicago Highway,Concord CA 94520(415)671-2387 <br /> April 15, 1992 FAX (415)685 9148 <br /> Project No 023201497 <br /> Mr Steve Schneider <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> P O Box 2009 <br /> 1601 East Hazelton Ave <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> RE Manna Pro Facility <br /> 4004 S EI Dorado <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr Schneider <br /> Groundwater Technology, Inc , is pleased to submit this Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling <br /> Report for the quarter ending February 29, 1992 Groundwater monitoring and sampling, and preparation <br /> of this report was performed pursuant to Section 2652(d) of the Underground Storage Tank Regulations <br /> (California Code of Regulations, Title 23, Subchapter 16), and as requested in the May 20, 1991 letter from <br /> Public Health Services (PHS) to Mr Dean Willis of O'Melveney and Myers In accordance with the May 20, <br /> 1991 letter, this report presents <br /> • Status of Site Investigation and Cleanup Activities <br /> + Groundwater Monitoring Data <br /> • Groundwater Quality Data <br /> Status of Site Investigation and Cleanup Activities <br /> Since the discovery of the petroleum hydrocarbon contamination at the Manna Pro site, a site investigation <br /> has been performed to delineate the extent of the impact to soil and groundwater The impact apparrently <br /> is the result of loss of product from five underground storage tanks and associated piping that were <br /> removed in June 1990 Soil from the removal of the tanks and further excavation of the pit to define the <br /> limits of the impacted soil has been stockpiled on the site pending evaluation of treatment options <br /> Currently the tank pit excavation remains open, and the excavated sod has been segregated into stockpiles <br /> of clean and impacted soil Although presently under evaluation, stockpiled soil will likely be addressed by <br /> sampling it further and backfilling the pit with soil that meets certain agreed upon standards The remainder <br /> of the stockpiled sod not meeting those standards will then be treated via on-site uncontrolled aeration <br /> The extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil and groundwater has been evaluated in Soil and <br /> Groundwater Investigation at Manna Pro,.Inc Facility, dated December 1990, prepared by ERM-West, Inc <br /> Additional groundwater monitoring wells may be required to establish plume perimeter monitoring points <br /> In our letter to PHS dated August 28, 1991, the overall remedial strategy for in place soil and groundwater <br /> was outlined Soil treatment will likely involve in-situ soil venting Groundwater remediation will involve <br /> groundwater extraction to maintain hydraulic control of the plume <br /> Offices throughout the US Canada and Overseas <br />
