Former Manna Pro Site Page 7
Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report
Project No 207 2
. 12 November 1999
' 4.0 DISCUSSION
' 4.1 Discussion of Data
Field and analytical data results are summarized in Summary Table 1 and
illustrated in Figures 3 through 5
' The map of groundwater gradient (Figure 3) suggests that the flow of
groundwater is to the northeast The water table has fallen over three feet since
the monitoring event in June of this year The groundwater surface in the
' vicinity of MW-3 and MW-5 is substantially depressed relative to other nearby
wells There are several possible explanations as to the cause of the depression,
but at this time, the cause is not known
' The analytic data suggest that contaminant levels are generally consistent with
' what has been observed in past monitoring events Two anomalies of note
concern the analytical results of samples from MW-9 and MW-10 The MW-9
sample contained low levels of gasoline range hydrocarbons and BTEX
. compounds The TPH level of 379 ppb is greater than has ever been observed in
the past The sample from MW- 10 contained 316 ppb of gasoline range
hydrocarbons The laboratory noted that the chromatogram for this sample did
not conform to a normal gasoline pattern, however, and no BTEX compounds
were detected We suggest this reading is anomalous and is not related to the
gasoline release
The samples were tested for the presence of 5 oxygenated gasoline additives
including MTBE No detectable levels of these oxygenates were found in the
samples The chlorinated organic compound, DCA was detected in the sample
from MW-1
' 4.2 Future Work Schedule
' Based on the data collected during the course of this investigation, Geo-Phase
Environmental Inc anticipates the following work will be completed in the
future
Quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling should continue The San
Joaquin County PHS/EHD has approved a Work Plan to conduct additional site
characterization of the deeper groundwater and to complete pilot level testing of
several remedial technologies The estimated costs associated with this work
' 2937 Venernan Ave ,#B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc Phone (209) 569-0293
Modesto, CA 95356 Fax (209) 569-0293
