' Corrective Action Plan Page 15
Former Manna Pro Site
Project No 207 3
February 16,2001
' Stagnant water in the well casing will be purged using a low flow volume submersible
purge pump The rate of well purging will be noted and groundwater parameters
measured, i e , temperature, conductivity and pH, at the initiation of pumping and after
' purging each well volume to determine if water representative of formation is entering the
well It will be assumed that representative water is entering the well if the measured
' groundwater parameters are within 10% of each other for three consecutive parameter
measurements At a minimum, three well volumes will be pumped from each well
Before a sample is collected, the well's water level will be allowed to recharge to at least
80% of it's initial level All water removed from the monitoring well and not used as a
sample, will be placed in 55 gallon DOT (Department of Transportation 17-H) approved
' containers, properly labeled, and temporally stored on-site until arrangements can be
made for its proper disposal
' A clean stainless steel bailer will be used to collect each groundwater sample Bailer
cleanliness will be verified by collecting a bailer blank (pouring distilled water through
the bailer and collecting it in a VOA vial) prior to collecting the analytical sample
' Disposable gloves will be worn by the sampling technician while collecting all samples
The gloves will be changed between the collection of each sample to reduce the potential
for cross-contamination
Water samples will be transferred from the bailer into unpreserved 1 liter amber glass
bottles and 40 ml voa bottles preserved with hydrochloric acid Extreme care will be
exercised during the collection of each sample to prevent agitation of the water contained
in the bailer All samples will be checked for head space bubbles, labeled, inserted into
' foam holders and placed in an ice chest cooled to 40C for transport to the laboratory
5.3 Air Sample Collection
' Air samples will be collected at various times during the operation of the remedial
system Samples will be collected in a Tedlar bag attached to Tygon tubing, which is in
' turn attached to a sampling port on the VES system The bag is then placed into a
hermetically sealed box and air is evacuated from the box using a hand pump As air is
evacuated from the box, the Tedlar bag fills and an air sample is collected An OVM
' reading is made from the air contained in the bag, the Tygon tube discarded, and the bag
placed in a cool environment for immediate transport to the analytical laboratory A
chain of custody document, listing all samples collected and their intended analyses will
' accompany the samples from field to the laboratory, thereby providing a means to track
their movement and insure their integrity
•
' 2937 Veneman Ave, ##8240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc Phone(209) 569-0293
Modesto, CA 95356 Fax(209)569-0295
