22 February 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0432
organic vapor monitor (OVM) equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID). Soil samples will
be collected from each probe boring at five-foot intervals beginning at 5 feet bsg to total depth. Field
procedures for advancement of probe borings and collection of soil samples are presented in Section
4.2. At least two soil samples from each probe boring will be submitted for laboratory analysis.
Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a State of California Health Services (DHS)-certified
laboratory by:
• EPA Method 8015 Modified for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-
g),for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel (TPH-d) and total petroleum
hydrocarbons quantified as motor oil (TPH-mo).
• EPA Method 8020 for volatile aromatic compounds: benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and
total xylenes (BTEX) and methyl tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE),
• EPA Method 8260m for di-isopropyl ether(DIPS), ethyl tertiary butyl ether(ETBE), methyl
tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), tertiary amyl methyl ether(TAME) and tertiary butyl alcohol
(TBA).
• EPA Method 8260 for halogenated volatile organic compounds (HVOC's), volatile organic
compounds (VOC), and fuel oxygenates including methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE),
tertiary-butyl alcohol(TBA),di-isopropyl ether(DIPE),ethyl tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE)and
tertiary-amyl methyl ether(TAME).
Laboratory reports for soil analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control
(QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report with
findings and recommendations.
3.3. GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
If field evidence shows that impacted-soil exceeds the maximum proposed depth of the soil borings,
the borings will be advance to a depth which defines the vertical extent of impacted soil and one
"grab"ground water sample will be collected and submitted for laboratory analysis. Ground water
sample collection procedures are presented in Section 4.3.
Groundwater samples will be analyzed by State of California Health Services-certified laboratory
for the constituents listed in Section 3.2. by the appropriate laboratory methods for water samples.
