i
I }
Stantec
Remediation System Removal j
ARCO Service Station No. 2130
July 9 , 2010
PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK
Rising groundwater levels have caused the screens of the site groundwater monitoring wells
and vapor extraction wells to become partially or fully submerged, and the air sparge blower and
antiquated SVE system are non-functional and do not comply with BP/ARC's Integrity
Management Program.
i
The scope of work includes 1 ) decommissioning the existing above grade portions of the
remediation system, 2) investigating the design and integrity of the sub grade portion of the
system and 3) conducting a site wide utility survey.
i
Decommissioning of the above grade portion will include removal of the SVE manifold, air
sparge compressor, and antiquated SVE system. The existing manifold will be cut off near the j
surface of the concrete pad with an appropriate tool and will be capped . The air sparge
compressor and SVE system will be removed and disposed of by Stantec. The existing
electrical meter panel will be disconnected, secured, and tagged for potential future use. !
Investigation of the below grade portion will include pressure testing the existing piping to
determine integrity and possible reuse in future remediation activities . Well and vault boxes will
be opened and the existing piping will be documented for future reuse.
i
A site wide utility survey will also be conducted to accurately locate the existing sparge lines and i
provide utility information for future planning purposes. ff
I
SCHEDULE NU 11 TNiN
Stantec is currently scheduled to perform this work on August 2 and 31 2010. Data collected
during this activity will be used to aid in development of a Feasibility Study that will be submitted
to SJCEHD approximately six weeks after field activities are completed .
i
2130 Response Letter - Remediation System Removal.doc 2
