Propane is incompatible with strong oxidizers. Propane is an <br /> asphyxiant and being heavier than air, can displace air in confined spaces. It is explosive in <br /> concentrations of 2.2 to 9.5% by volume in air. Prolonged exposure can have narcotic <br /> effects, i.e. dizziness, disorientation or excitation. Target organs are the CNS. Liquid or <br /> gaseous propane can cause frostbite upon exposure to skin.Routes of enty or exposure are <br /> by inhalation or by contact. <br /> GENERAL PROJECT SAFETY REQUIREMEIM <br /> Project activities will be conducted in accordance with the following minimum safety <br /> requirements: <br /> r <br /> o Eating, drinking, and smoking will be restricted to a designated area. <br /> o Gross decontamination and removal of all personal protective equipment will <br /> be performed before leaving the site. Contaminated clothing will be removed <br /> and collected in a drum for disposal. <br /> o Shaking or blowing dust or other materials off potentially contaaninated <br /> clothing or equipment to remove dust or other materials is not permitted. <br /> o The Staff Geologist will be responsible for taking steps to protect employees <br /> from physical hazards including <br /> Falling objects, such as tools or equipment <br /> ' Falls from elevations <br /> ' Tripping over hoses, pipes, tools. or equipment <br /> ' Slipping on wet or oily surfaces <br /> ' Insufficient or faulty protective equipment <br /> ' Insufficient or faulty equipment or tools <br /> o All personnel will be required to wash hands and faces before eating, <br /> drinking, or smoking in the aforementioned designated areas. <br /> ,4VR11ed' ,GeaSYSA9MS <br />
