Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (SJCPHS-EHD), and for the <br /> required 30-day public review The document summarizes our work to date, general tasks <br /> to be conducted during removal of the tanks, and our interim soil remediation plan for the <br /> subject site <br /> We understand ARCO Products Company (ARCO) plans to replace the existing single- <br /> walled steel underground-storage tanks with double-walled fiberglass tanks to comply with <br /> State and local regulations The tank replacement is planned in conjunction with ARCO's <br /> facility upgrade and is not in response to a known spill or leak at the site If soil samples <br /> collected beneath the tanks during tank removal contain gasoline, the extent of residual <br /> hydrocarbons will be defined during a subsequent subsurface investigation that will be <br /> conducted according to State and local guidelines After the extent of residual hydrocarbons <br /> are defined, work will begin to remove the residual hydrocarbons from the soil Soil <br /> containing gasoline hydrocarbons is commonly removed by two methods removal by <br /> excavation and subsequent disposal at the appropriate facility or in-place treatment by vapor <br /> extraction <br /> ARCO Service Station No 2130 is on the northeast corner of Hammer Lane and North El <br /> Dorado Street in Stockton, California The location of the site is shown on the attached Site <br /> Vicinity Map (Plate 1) The site configuration is shown on the Generalized Site Plan (Plate <br /> 2) <br /> 30003-4W <br />
