Infurna.
At the request of ARCO Products Company (ARCO), 1. ESNA Industries (RESNA) is
submitting this letter outlining soil excavation activities associated with the replacement of
the underground storage tanks (USTs) at the subject site. led on site investigations
i performed at the site, hydrocarbons may exist in soil beneath and adjacent to the LTSTs.
If hydracarbon impacted soil is encountered during the tank replacement operation,ARWS
contractor will over excavate the tank cavity in an attempt to rernasve the impacted nail.
Over excavation will be limited laterally due to the location of the tank ca"ty with respect
to the station building, property lunits, and mov itoring and vapor-extraction wells. The
vertical extent of over excavation(if warranted)will be approximately 16 feet. We estimate
that approximately 750 cubic yards of soil may be generated during tank removal and over
excavation.
Soil removed from the tank cavity will be stockpiled onsite and covered with plastic.
Samples will be collected from the stockpiled soil and submitted to a State-certified
laboratory for compositing (one composite per 100 cubic yards) and analyses The soil will
be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasolene (TPHg,) and benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene.and total xylem isomers(OTEX)+Hung total contaminant leachate procedure,
reactivity, corrositivity, ignitability.and soluble lead using EPA method 8015, EPA Method
1311, and EPA method 6020. respectively Results of analyses will be used to evaluate
disposal options.
34003-9
0
