BACKGROUND
The site is located on the southeast corner of Lynn Avenue and South El Dorado Street in an
industrial/agricultural area of French Camp, California(Figure 2). The site operated as a fuel and
service station from approximately 1963 to approximately 1985.The site.has been vacant since 1985
and a one-story building is the only remaining structure on the site.
2.1. UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL
On 29 August 1989,one 10,000-gallon diesel UST(TAI),two 5,000-gallon(TA2 and TA3)and one
3,000-gallon(TA4)fuel USTs and one 250-gallon waste oil(TA5)UST were removed from the site
by Al Williamson.Product lines were also removed during excavation of the USTs.The approximate
location of the former USTs is shown on Figure 2.
During the UST removals, two soil samples each were collected from the base of the excavations
of the fuel and diesel USTs, one soil sample was collected from the base of the excavation of the
waste oil UST and six soil samples were collected between 2.5 feet and 5 feet below surface grade
(bsg) beneath the product lines. Total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons were reported in one of
the soil samples collected beneath the 10,000-gallon diesel UST,the soil sample collected beneath
the waste oil UST and from sample T5=3 collected beneath the product lines at concentrations as
high as 76 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg). Toluene was detected in one soil sample collected
beneath each fuel UST (TAI, TA2, TA3 and TA4) at concentrations as high as 0.005 mg/kg.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
