SupplementalSubsurface Investigation `at the Transportation <br /> Center/Corporation Yard, 1.932 El Pinal Drive, Stockton,'California <br /> Dear Mr. Wong: <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> ATC Associates Inc. has prepared-this letter-report, on behalf,+of Stockton Unified School <br /> District (SUSD) to serve as a work plan for additional#subsurface investigation activities at the <br /> District's Transportation Center/Corporation Yard, 1932 EI Pinal Drive, Stockton, California <br /> (Figure 1). The purpose of the additional subsurface investigation is to further define diesel <br /> contamination reported in the vicinity of the site's former diesel underground storage`tanks <br /> (USTs). This work was requested in San Joaquin County Publics Health Services, Environniental f <br /> Health Division(PHS/EHD) correspondence dated June 25, 1999' <br /> Site Location <br /> The site is located on the east side of El Pinal Drive, Stockton, California, as shown on.Figure 1. <br /> The location is primarily commercial. <br /> Background <br /> Remote Fill Pipeline and Diesel Tanks <br /> In December,1996, three diesel USTs and an associated remote fill pipeline were removed (see } <br /> Figure 2). Soil samples were collected from the tank excavation and from a depth of 2 feet <br /> below the bottom of the pipeline trench and at 20-foot intervals. <br /> Due to staining noted near the southern-most diesel UST, the base of the excavation near the tank <br /> was overexcavated to a depth of approximately 18 feet below ground surface (bgs), the <br /> w:\17292\reports\workplan.doc - 1 <br /> i <br />
