Depth to
water in this area has been as high Vs 35 feet below grade as indicated on the Spring 1983 and 1986 San Joaquin
County Flood Control water maps. The total depth of the boring was 38 feet. Moisture was present at this depth
indicating the top of the capillar, hinge. The investigation indicates that there is less than a 5 foot separation
between contamination and groundwater. A groundwater investigation is required due to this condition.
The lateral and vertical extent of soil contamination in the area of the former tank bed has not been determined. A
continuation of the soil investigation is required to define the lateral and vertical extent of soil contamination. The
groundwater investigation will shoe- if groundwater has been impacted. If groundwater has been impacted then the
lateral and vertical extent of the plume will be defined by the groundwater investigation.
When the soil and groundwater coommination has been defined alternatives for remediation must be submitted.
PHS/EHD requests that a workplan for installation of 3 monitoring wells, to begin a groundwater investigation, be
submitted within 30 days of the date of this letter.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
EnvironmentalH alth Division
e en arson, Senior REHS
#iane inson REHS
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
SS
c: SWRCS, Underground Storage Tank Program
Lori Casias
c: CVRWQCB
Elizabeth Thayer
c: Geological Audit Service_ Inc.
Bob Marty
Ditii%inn of Sun Joaquin young Health Care Sertiice,
