rpm,
28 February 1997
AGE Project No. 95-0118
3.0. FINDINGS
i
.3.1. RELATIVE GROUND 'WATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT
I,'j The relative ground water elevation in each well was calculated by subtracting the ground water
depth from the surveyed relative casing elevation(Table 1). During the December 1996 sampling,
the depth to ground water at the site ranged from 36.80 to 3 8.67 feet with the ground water"gradient
divergent from the eastern edge of the vicinity of the maintenance shop toward the southwest and
the northeast. Between August and December 1996, the relative.ground water elevation increased
an average 1.08 feet.
In December 1996, a ground water mound or `high' was present in the area of monitoring well MW-
2, from which point it appears that growid water has a radial flow toward the north, west south and
possibly east. The steepest gradient in the measurable area appears to be toward the southwest at an
estimated 0.033 ft/ft or approximately 1.9°. Relative ground water elevation contours are illustrated
j in Figure 3 -RelatiYe Ground Water Elevation.
is -
-=z` 3.2. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
r Water samples from MW-2 and MW-3 contained TPH-g at concentrations of 840 parts per billion
(ppb, reported as micrograms per liter) and 4,800 ppb, respectively. The same samples contained
benzene at concentrations of 41. ppb and 130 ppb, toluene at.170 ppb and 450 ppb, ethylbenzene at
23 ppb and 74 ppb, and xylenes at 130 ppb and 960 ppb, repectively.
Hydrocarbons were not detected in samples collected from MW-I, MW-4, MW-5 or MW-6.
I _ Analytical results of ground water samples are summarized in Table 2. The laboratory report(MAI
Lab ID 67869 to 67874) and chain-of custody are included as Appendix B.
4.0. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
is
4.1. CONCLUSIONS
Based upon results of ground water monitoring and well sampling, AGE has the following
conclusions:
'! ! The relative ground water elevation during the last quarter has increased an average 1.08 feet.
I
I
