MONITORING WELL PURGING
On 15 May 1996, the water level in each well (MW-1 through MW-6) was measured relative to the
top of its well casing using a Solinst water level meter(Table 1). After water levels were measured,
approximately 8 gallons of water(a minimum of three well volumes)were removed from each well
`-' using a PVC bailer. Temperature,pH and conductivity were measured at two-gallon intervals using
an ICM model 52200 water analyzer. Stabilization data and field logs are included in Appendix A.
Purged water was stored on-site in 55-gallon drums.
i.j
2.2. SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
1- a
Water samples were collected from each well using a new disposable plastic bailer by transferring
the collected water into 40-m1 EPA vials. The samples were logged on a chain-of-custody form,
1 placed in a chilled container and transported to McCampbell Analytical Inc. (MAI) in Pacheco,
California. Each sample was analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline
(TPH-g),volatile aromatics(benzene,toluene,ethyl benzene and xylenes: BTE&X)and methyl-tert-
butyl ether(MTBE) in accordance with EPA methods 503018015m and 602.
i f
 i
Ii
