PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION AND EVALUATION REPORT
Elkhorn Country Club
1450 Elkhorn Drive
Stockton, CA
September 1994
I
1.0 INTRODUCTION
In accordance with a request from Mr. Bob Young of the Elkhorn Country Club, Geological
Audit Services, Inc. (GeoAudit) has drilled four soil borings at 1050 Elkhorn Drive in
Stockton, California (the site). Three of the borings were completed as groundwater
monitoring wells. Groundwater samples were then collected from the monitoring wells. The
purpose of the investigation was to assess the extent of impacted soil and groundwater at
the site. This report describes the activities performed between June and September 1994
and presents the results of these investigations. The location of the site is illustrated in
Figure 1. A plan of the site is illustrated in Figure 2.
2.0 BACKGROUND
2.1 Site Location
Elkhorn Country Club is located in a flat rural/residential area north of Stockton, in San
Joaquin County, California (Figure 1). The area of investigation is located east of the Pro
Shop, immediately adjacent to the maintenance building (Figure 2).
2.2 UST Removal
It is our understanding that one 1,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tank (UST) was
removed from the site in 1991. Two soil samples were collected from beneath the tank at
depths of 10 and 10.5 feet. The samples were analyzed by a state-certified laboratory for
total petroleum hydrocarbons TPH as gasoline),volatile aromatics (B
TE&X}
,
total lead and
ethylene dibromide (EDB). No EDB or lead were detected in the samples. However,
volatile aromatics and TPH as gasoline were detected in the soil samples at concentrations
as great as 480 parts per million (ppm). Soil from the tank removal was stockpiled on-site
on plastic sheeting. The stockpiled soil has not been characterized.
Gralogial Avdil S—k-,Inc. 1
Elkh—p1ER Mr—pl 1994
I l
1
