Two
monitoring wells, MW-1 and MW-2,were installed at the site as a part of the investigation
activities. The Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) concurred with EHD that
I
no further action was required for the UST's removed in 1987 and 1988 and the UST closed
in place in 1999 in a letter dated June 4, 2003. You were directed to sample MW-1 and MW-
{ 2 when the 12,000-gallon UST was removed in the same area in February 2005.
Groundwater samples were collected only from MW-2 in April 2005 since MW-1 was found
to be dry. EHD has reviewed Soil Excavation Report and Site Closure Request dated April 28,
2005 prepared by Ground Zero Analyses, Inc. (Ground Zero). Analytical results of the
groundwater sample from MW-2 were non-detect for all analytes.
You are directed to submit a work plan to destroy the two above-mentioned monitoring
wells by July 15, 2005, and destroy the hvo wells by August 15, 2005. Final closure status for
the UST's under Site Code 1330 will be granted only after the wells are destroyed. EHD is
requesting concurrence form the RWQCB for a "No Further Action Required"
determination for the UST removed in February 2005.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jeffrey Wong at (209) 468-0335.
1 Donna Heran, REHS, Director
1
Environmental Health Division
p
i Jeffrey Wong, Senior REHS Margare EHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
c: RWQCB, Central Valley Region—James L.L.
